Sonic Boom was sold as a digipak with two additional discs. However, there would be more than just the one album of new material. Sonic Boom was finally completed by August 2009 to come out with an album of 11 new songs. Coincidentally, the album cover was created by Michael Doret who had worked with Kiss previously to create the album cover for Rock and Roll Over. The album design bared a resemblance to their fifth studio album, Rock and Roll Over. The 19th studio, Sonic Boom, set for its release in 2009. Paul Stanley stated “The purpose of this album isn’t to let people know that we’re still around – it’s to let people know we can still knock out anybody who’s out there!” Okay, we’ll see about that. Sonic Boom featured Eric Singer on vocals for one of the songs as well as Tommy Thayer on lead vocals for one song. This would be KISS’ 19th studio album titled Sonic Boom. From May to August 2009, KISS convened at Conway Studios in Hollywood, California to make an album of new material. By the mid 2000s, the band felt that it was time to record new music. The KISS army was still ALIVE and got even bigger with a new generation of fans. Anyhow, KISS were still going strong with their constant touring. Both Thayer and Singer did not invent their own characters. Thayer took over as the Spaceman and Singer took over as the Catman.
